We were given rubrics based on the Margaret Thatcher essay, on scales from 0-9. As an example of what is expected on the AP exam. We reviewed an essay worth only 2 points and an essay for 6, 6 being the average/adequate score. Reading the 6 of an essay, I figured it was meant to be an 8 or 9, so that explains why it wasn't as good as I expected. It just seemed too long, but apparently we're meant to write upwards of 5 paragraphs on the AP exam. It all seems pretty excessive to me. So much writing that I personally wouldn't care to read, or even think about reading. But, it's the college standard, or something like that.
